Target
The seminar was addressed to senior professionals interested in energy production, supply of components or services in the field of marine renewable energy, namely related to the exploitation of wave energy and wind offshore. This event was also relevant for Public Administration and Scientific and Technological Institutes, since both should take an active role in the development of marine renewables and an industrial cluster supported by technical-scientific knowledge.
Programme Information
This event presented the technology state of art of wave and offshore wind energy and discuss related business opportunities and the urge to surpass potential barriers. Examples of other countries were presented, mainly related to financial means of technological development. The technological development is important not only for the progress of these technologies, but also to establish the cluster in Portugal and add value to the associated products and services. In this field, Portugal has ventured less then with the creation of market incentives, such as the legislative initiatives establishing the tariff and the pilot zone for wave energy.
The seminar is also an opportunity to discuss with the responsibles of the major Portuguese players in the areas covered by the seminar: what needs to be done in Portugal in order to enable collective success in marine renewbales.
5 years of Wave Energy Centre - celebration
The event closed with a brief commemorative celebration of the 5 years of activity of the Wave Energy Centre and was followed by a cocktail and visit to the Museu da Electricidade (Electricity Museum), which has kindly offered the venue for the realization of this seminar.
