Doctorate degree in Mechanical Engineering at Instituto Superior Técnico (IST) from the University of Lisbon. Retired (2013) Associate Professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering of IST.

Founder and President of WavEC Offshore Renewables. Founder and member of the Board of OEE (Ocean Energy Europe, previously the European Association of Ocean Energy) until 2016. Associate Editor of JOWE (Journal of Ocean and Wind Energy). Active in the field of marine renewable energy for almost four decades with work on hydrodynamics, control, conceptual design, LCOE and public policies.

Ana Brito e Melo holds a PhD (2000) and a Master (1995) in Mechanical Engineering and a first degree in Civil Engineering (1992) from the IST (Instituto Superior Técnico) of the Technical University in Lisbon. Ana has more than 20 years of experience in wave energy, starting from tank tests and numerical modelling, towards technology assessment, site selection and feasibility studies. She became Executive Director of WavEC in January 2012. She is further responsible for running the secretariat and dissemination of the OES.

José Chambel Leitão has a Civil Engineering degree and a Doctorate degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Lisbon. He has about 30-year experience in consultancy and operational systems in the areas of wind wave’s propagation, hydrodynamics, water quality and dispersion problems, hydrology and river basin management. He is a Director at Wavec and one of the managers of HIDROMOD.

Canena Santos holds a degree in Electronics and Telecommunications. He has more than 30 years of experience in the Energy Sector in the areas of Control, Automation and Application Management. It is since 2015 Senior Executive of ENONDAS.

Pedro Valverde is responsible for the Cleaner Energy field of EDP Innovation and advisor of the director of “Les éoliennes flottantes du golfe du Lion”, an offshore wind project in southern France. He is member of the board of directors of WavEC. Since 2008 he has been involved in the WindFloat project in Portugal as member of the Executive Committee. He works with the venture-capital fund of EDP Innovation. McS degree in Electronics and Computers from IST University and post graduation in Project Management and Assessment from Catholic University Portugal.

Ricardo start to serve A. Silva Matos (ASM) in 2008 and he is currently the Commercial Director of ASM Industries, a company that operates in the field of manufacturing of steel equipment for renewable and marine industries, such as wind towers, offshore foundations and marine structures. He has a Degree in Environmental Engineering and a Pos Grad in Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency, both in University of Aveiro. He also has a MBA in Catolica Porto Business School and a Pos-Grad in Sales Management, in Porto Business School.

Degree in Social and Cultural Communication at the Universidade Católica de Lisboa. Janete Gonçalves started to work for WavEC since the start, in 2003. She is responsible for all communication and dissemination activities within the WavEC and its projects.

PhD in Mechanical Engineering by Instituto Superior Técnico (IST). Degree in Oceanography/Meteorology by Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade de Lisboa (FCUL). Senior researcher and project manager in offshore renewable energy projects. Research and consultancy activity in offshore renewable energy economics, resource assessment and site selection.

Degree in Environmental Sciences and Technology by Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade do Porto, and MSc in Sustainable Energy Systems, at the University of Edinburgh. Marta is working on the development of methodologies for design, monitor and update Roadmaps and other tools in the area of marine renewables.

Master degree in Environmental Engineering at Universidade Nova de Lisboa (FCT-UNL). Joins WavEC to collaborate in the analysis and identification of innovation trends of the sustainable exploration of geologic and energetic marine resources.

PhD and MSc in Mechanical Engineering at IST, has worked for several years in research in robotics and holds a PhD in the field of robotic surgery. He has joined WavEC in 2013 to work on control, robotics and electronics issues. Pedro is now also active in the field of aquaculture.

Master degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering, with specialization in Energy, at Instituto Superior Técnico, where he has done research on grid integration of offshore renewable energy. Paulo is working in the monitoring and technology department with focus on electrical components and instrumentation.

Master degree in Mechanical Engineering at IST in 2015. Gonçalo worked in the industrial maintenance field before joining WavEC in 2017 to work on the development of hardware products and services.

Degree in Business Management/Finance - Universidad Complutense (CUNEF, 2003) and another in Mechanical Eng. (U.Cantabria, 2014), has worked in investment banking before moving into engineering. His key areas in WavEC are Mechanical Design and Prototyping

Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and Executive Master in Sustainable Energy Systems, from Instituto Superior Técnico, with specialization in offshore renewable energy systems. Experience in experimental testing of wave energy converters, control and ocean renewable resource assessment. Project manager in projects related to offshore operations for marine renewable energy systems.

Master in Electrotechnical Engineering and Computer Science at Instituto Superior Técnico in 2015”. He has worked in plastic packaging industry until 2018. Over this 3 years, he operated in areas such as automation, energy management and project management. In 2018, he joined WavEC to work as Marine Renewable O&M Data Engineer

Degree in Marine Biology and Fisheries at the Universidade do Algarve and masters and PhD in Environmental Sciences at the Universidade Nova de Lisboa. Teresa is the coordinator of the environmental team and research projects on marine environmental assessment.

Degree in Aquatic Science at University of Porto and Master in Marine Ecology at the Faculty of Science of University of Lisbon. Erica is working on environmental impact assessment and design and implementation of monitoring programs with focus on underwater noise and cetaceans.

Degree in Biology, MSc in Ecology and PhD in Biosciences – Marine Ecology, at the University of Coimbra. Pedro is working in the Environmental team with focus on marine benthic communities.

MsC in Environmental Engineer at Universidade Nova de Lisboa (FCT-UNL) with focus . Maria is working in the Environmental team in project management with focus on marine environmental assessment tools.

Degree, masters and phd in Mechanicl Engineering at the Instituto Superior Técnico. Specialist for Hydrodynamics of wave energy and floating structures, with experience of around 10 years in the field.

Degree in Physics Engineering and master degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering at Instituto Superior Técnico. He started his Phd recently. Researcher on modeling activities.

MSc in Mechanical Engineering, specialization in energy by IST in 2012. Has been working in the offshore hydrodynamics field as a project manager and researcher since then. Experience in CFD and model testing. Joined the WavEC numerical modelling team in 2017.

MSc. in Ship and Marine Technology from University of Rostock, Germany. Working for WavEC since 2018 on hydrodynamic simulations of floating renewable energy and aquaculture systems. Specialized in cables, moorings and automation.

Degree in Economics at the Nova School of Business and Economics (Nova SBE) and a postgraduation in Finances at Universidade Católica Portuguesa. Financial management and controller.

Postgraduation in Marketing at ISCTE and Degree in Economics at Nova School of Business and Economics (Nova SBE). Her role at WavEC is focused on giving support to Financial Management.

Degree in Support to Managers at the Instituto Superior de Novas Profissões – INP. Andreia is responsible for the secretariat support to the technical team and direction.
