RECODE

Delivering reliable and cost-effective technologies will be paramount to the ultimate commercial success of Europe’s ocean energy industry. The RECODE project aims to give answer to this challenge by developing a set of industry-enabling cost-effective components, specifically designed for reliable and sustainable delivery of ocean energy generation. The project will develop, demonstrate and validate standardized components that will contribute to lower ocean energy technology deployment costs and achieve long term costs reduction of ocean energy arrays components.

In addition, the project will provide a better understanding of components safety design factors and lower insurance costs of future plants through better monitoring and control methods and resource assessment instrumentation. All stated above will enhance overall competitiveness of the European ocean energy value chain.

The aim is to develop and improve a device and observation techniques that will allow the real time monitoring of umbilical cable position, shape and strain in order to obtain improved design assumptions and reduce risk. This will require developments both on the numerical modelling side and the hardware side. This development will allow the Symbiotracker system to pass from current TRL3 to TRL6.
