The HiWave “High Efficiency Wave Power” project is focused on the development of wave energy technology by the Swedish company Corpower.

The project has the objective to demonstrate the functionality and performance of the technology and includes tests at sea in scale 1:2 for protected areas and 1:1 scale in a more suitable area.

The main objectives are:
1. Bring the technology from TRL 5 to level TRL 8;
2. Demonstrate the functionality of the complete system, including the converter, the moorings, connection to grid, remote control and communication;
3. Acquire operation experience by proving the viability and survivability in an adequate offshore environment;
4. Provide energy production data and cost modeling.
